About Us

Diverse Family Roots Society is the only grassroots, parent/family-driven support network for families with children or family members with diverse abilities/disabilities that is based in the Kootenay.

On December 1st, Diverse Family Roots celebrated 1 year as a non profit society. They exist to promote peer-to-peer mentoring, family connections, family support, connection to resources, advocacy, and family navigation of services.

They have had tremendous growth in their first year, supporting families all through advocating, sharing and connecting. They offer in person as well as virtual sessions for Families & for Dads that have been very well attended. The Dads Matter program - Empowering Dads - is the only online support network in the province for dads that have a son or daughter with diverse abilities.
