''Massage Therapy, connecting body/mind/spirit for a positive change in health and healing''
The Essential Body was established in 1990 when massage, a centuries-old healing practice, was re-emerging as a hands-on therapy in British Columbia. It was an exciting time to study and begin practicing massage therapy as techniques that are now well established such as Trigger Point Therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy, and Myofascial Release, were emerging as adjuncts to our basic training in Swedish Massage.
Today our Scope of Practice aims to promote health by developing, maintaining, rehabilitating or augmenting physical function by treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction, injury, pain and disorders of soft tissue and joints of the body, using manipulation, mobilization and other manual methods.
